Nuestro Ñānamoli began his adult life in the military. After combat in Iraq, he went on to study at the University of California, Berkeley. But severe bouts of PTSD led him to seek deeper healing, and he soon found himself attending his first 10-day Vipassana meditation course.
That experience became a turning point. Nuestro went on to spend seven years living and volunteering at meditation centers and Buddhist monasteries, dedicating himself to meditation, spiritual practice, and the teachings of spiritual masters.
In 2020, his life took another unexpected turn when he broke his neck and had a near-death experience. It was a profound moment that changed everything.
As he recovered, the urge to begin sewing arose naturally and immediately. This new practice became a vital part of his physical and emotional healing. For the past four years, he has continued weaving threads into the same tapestry, repeating the mantra: “May this stitch bring peace to many people.”
In this webinar, Nuestro will share his near-death experience, the far-reaching aftereffects that followed, and the meaning behind many of the amazing creations in his more than 11-by-22-foot tapestry — a work of healing, devotion, and peace.
Nuestro Ñānamoli’s work today brings together meditation, intuition, and devotional art. Through his large-scale tapestry and his intuitive guidance sessions, Nuestro seeks to offer peace, healing, and support to others on their own paths of discovery.
Durham IANDS is a peer-to-peer meetup support group with guest speakers or video/discussion sharing events all year long (with occasional bonus events). Note: Durham IANDS is only meeting online as of 2026.
